The leaves of my rhododendron are eaten way. What can I do?

(Survey: General maintenance of rhododendrons )

Rhododendrons are mostly healthy plants and not really sensitive to harmful effects. Still, it is important to plant your rhododendron in an adequate site and provide the right care, otherwise your plant might weaken or grow sensitive to mould or other animal attacks. The latter are often caused by WEEVILS. These black/grey beetles (1cm) are only active during the night. They bite away large oval pieces of the leaves. Other harmful insects are white larva who feed on bark and roots. These problems can easily be solved by using biological pesticides (nematodens). Apply when warmer than 15°C.
